I worked in the video game industry from 1992, on notable games like Ratchet & Clank, James Bond, and Silent Hill, as well as localization on a ton of Japanese games.

I went indie around 2008 as game console contract work seemed to dry up with the advent of Flash and cel phone games. I released Nintendo DSi/3DS music creation software series “Rhythm Core Alpha”. I also use the software I created to perform in music shows across southern California as “Timon Marmex”.

I’ve been very active in the maker community, having started the  “Make Room” at the Loscon science fiction convention, and formed the (now dormant) “Developer Interest Group” that met at LASFS in Van Nuys.

In 2016, I was awarded a residency at the Supplyframe Design Lab to work on my new product, the NanoEgg Music Synthesizer. That product is still in development.

I’m skilled in C and C++ programming, having done it for most of my adult life. I am good at CAD and have made substantial projects in Autodesk Fusion 360 and Solidworks. I also have extensive experience designing models for the limitations of 3d printing. I am also good with laser cutting and am currently working on a project for the MAGWest convention that makes heavy use of it.

I have a degree in Electrical Engineering, but will admit to being rusty, having a long break between getting my Bachelor’s degree and actually doing any work in it. I’m now designing my own hardware, and am working extensively in KiCAD. I have also worked with Eagle, but am mostly focused on KiCAD at the moment because it is free.

I spent a few years making websites on a freelance basis, and have built and maintain websites for my own projects. I generally don’t accept web work anymore, but I have built quite a skill set with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Dreamweaver, and Flash. I don’t draw, and wouldn’t call myself an artist, but I consider myself to be good at design.

I did mention that I was a musician, and I can compose and perform music in a few different styles. I generally focus on 80’s style new wave and synth pop, but also do synth atmospheric instrumentals and even some orchestral style music. Naturally, since I make the software, I also do chiptune.

I have my own office and generally work from there.
